Kenric are very pleased to announce our new book group in London, hosted by keen book worms and Kenric members Rosie Williams and Sam Golding.

Rosie is a primary school teacher as well as a teacher of French, German and Latin. She says Charles ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ by Charles Dockers has to be up there with her top favourite books and freely confesses to having a crush on Jackie Kay’s voice. Sam studied Russian literature at university and has a tattoo of Shakespeare. She likes to say that she started working in bookshops in the previous century and to tell people that Chekhov called his dachshund dogs Bromide and Quinine.

The book group will meet on the second Sunday of the month, at 3pm, on level 5 of the Royal Festival Hall on London’s South Bank and it has been decided that the books to be read and discussed will not necessarily be by lesbian authors or have a lesbian plot line – the point is that the book lovers among us come together as a lesbian group to talk about the wonder and magic of the written word.

In order to launch the group and to enable you to get reading, the first three books have been selected (details below) but it is hoped that the future format of the group will largely be shaped by those that come along and enjoy it! Members and the Kenric Meetup group are all invited to join us. This is a free event but there will be a voluntary donation pot for any loose change or wads of bank notes that you want to give to the Kenric purse. Please note that we will be in a public area of the Royal Festival Hall and not in a private room.
